One more Santa: by Delaina Netherland Smiley

Anaiah Christmas Novella collection

Released November 8th, 2019

Synopsis

Cassie McWilliams is completely committed to her work as a professional sports photographer, president of The Santa House Women’s Charity, and helping her family in their hometown diner, which leaves no time for romance—and that’s perfectly fine with Cassie. She has no interest in trying to squeeze dating into her busy schedule.

Officer Talent Marshall is a new recruit to the police force and the newest bachelor in town. All he wants to do is start over, away from the shadows of his past, but when he meets the beautiful and smart Cassie, his priorities suddenly change. And when he’s assigned to security detail for The Santa House, he’s one step closer to getting exactly what he wants.

As Christmas approaches, their attraction grows, but when Talent is called to help find a missing child, their relationship is threatened by raging waters, leaving Cassie to realize one very important thing: She doesn’t want one more Santa—a precious gift her late father gave her mother every year before he passed—she wants more chance with Talent.

author interview holidays

Welcome to my blog! I’m happy to have you. Tell me about yourself. Have you ever been published before?

I’m a busy mom of three young adults and too many dogs. I work as a business coach and trainer during the day and I’m blessed to have a family who supports the clicking of my keyboard on weekends and some evening hours. “One More Santa” is my first traditionally published book and I’m grateful that Anaiah Press saw the potential in my story. I have had a busy year with four books self-published on Amazon and now this wonderful opportunity with Anaiah!

That’s awesome! Tell me about One More Santa?

What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

Every year my little family gets together to decorate our Christmas tree and I love hearing my mother reminisce with my children as they look through the ornaments they’ve collected over the years. It always warms my heart to see them have that special time with her and enjoy those memories.

I love decorating the tree, too and always try to make it a family event. I’ve acquired some special ornaments from my grandmother and mother recently, and it’s been special going through them. That sounds lovely!

What was the inspiration for this story?

The story is, of course, fiction, but the names of the sisters and mother in my story are a tribute to my grandmother, Rosemary, and her sisters – Cassie, Betty, and Brenda. I played off of my daughter’s love for photography and my son’s love of competitive archery. And I have a large Santa collection of my own that my mother started and my family has contributed to over the years. So I definitely took from my little world to create “One More Santa.”

What inspires you to pursue this crazy journey of being an author in general?

I’ve always wanted to write, but life was so busy as my children were growing up and I focused all of my energy on taking care of them – not that I would change a thing if I could go back. I adored my time with my babies. But as they got into high school and started pursuing dreams of their own, I was inspired to work on my writing again. They have been so supportive and encouraging, as has my whole family and many friends. This has been a dream come true and I hope it doesn’t end. I look forward to writing many, many more books in the future.

About the Author:

Delaina Netherland Smiley is an East Texas native, who lives in the country with her three fun teenagers/young adult children. She’s a business coach and trainer by day, a writer by night, and a hobby photographer whenever she gets the chance. Her favorite genre of books is, of course, romance (faith-based, military, contemporary and historical), but her music playlist is oddly eclectic (at least, according to her children). She loves to go fishing at the lake and she can’t get enough of watching her children excel in their own varied talents and ambitions. She also enjoys being an aunt and loves time spent with her tight-knit family, who serve up all the creative inspiration she could ever need.
